Boulevard® Ayako™ Clematis

A very special Clematis that flowers throughout the summer. From May to September you can enjoy its large dark purple umbels. The Clematis provides an oasis of flowers in its first year. Unlike most Clematis species that flower for one to two months, ‘Ayako’ can be enjoyed for up to five months. Against a pergola or climbing frame, ‘Ayako’ will grow to a maximum height of 180 cm. This clematis prefers a spot in the (semi-) full sun. A spot in the morning and/or evening sun is most ideal. Because ‘Ayako’ is a compact species, it can also be placed in a pot on a balcony, terrace or even in a hanging basket. In order for the Clematis to climb better, it needs a little help. The best way is to guide the plant along a rack, wire or stick. Pruning is not necessary. However, remove dead and damaged twigs in early March. You can prune this Clematis in the spring to a maximum height of 20 centimetres above the ground.
