Narrowly columnar with dense, upright branching and a strong central leader. Glossy, deep green foliage up to 7" long turns dark red to bronze in autumn. Actually turns a brilliant scarlet in cooler areas. Adaptable to a wide range of site conditions but will suffer chlorosis in high pH. 2006 Gold Medal Plant® Award winner.
